Hainan Airlines on Friday launched a new regular flight between the northern Chinese city of Taiyuan and Singapore.

The new route is the first to link Singapore and the provincial capital of Shanxi, which is known for its abundant coal resources and traditional Chinese cultural tourism attractions, according to the Shanxi Civil Airport Group.

Using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the flight will take off every Monday and Friday. It will have a stop-over in Haikou, the capital of China's southernmost island province of Hainan.
