Hotel room occupancy rates in Hainan to drop during May Day Holiday
About half of hotel rooms in Hainan will be unoccupied this May Day Holiday and room occupancy rate will be lower than last year as more and more domestic tourists choose short-distance trips during the 3-day holiday from 29th April to 1st May, reports www.sanya.gov.cn.
Till now, only half of hotel rooms in Sanya have been booked.
"The 3-day May Day Holiday is suitable for short-distance trips. Many tourists have already chosen to travel during the Tomb-sweeping Day instead of the May Day Holiday. And they have more choices as many cities are welcoming their peak tourist season. On the other hand, the number of flights to Sanya is fewer than in April, and the tickets’ price are not stabilized during the off-season," according to Chen Lihua, the vice-general manager of the Resort Intime Sanya.
