A pickup truck tried to avoid a sedan which suddenly overtook a lorry, both travelling in the opposite direction of the truck and caused four people onboard the truck to be thrown onto the road and crushed to death by the lorry in the provincial highway 314 in the city of Dongfang at around 5:30 p.m., witnesses said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, traffic police said.
