The Investment & Cooperation Meeting between Hainan Province and Kaliningrad of Russia was held in Haikou on the morning of March 21. The two parties exchanged the mutual development situations, mentioned a number of similarities for developing tourism and expected to enhance the investment & cooperation accordingly.

During the meeting, a relevant leader from Department of Commerce of Hainan Province introduced the geographical location and basic development of Hainan Province and said that the two parties could strengthen the cooperation in modern service industry (including modern agriculture, tourism and exhibition), strategic emerging industries and culture & creative industry. In addition the leader hoped that enterprises in Kaliningrad will come to Hainan Province for business investigation and establishment.

Nicholas Chu Fu Kanuo said while introducing the development of Kaliningrad that the two parties may complement the advantages in tourism industry. In addition he expected enterprises in Hainan Province to invest and cooperate in tourism and transportation in Kaliningrad.

The two parties exchanged ideas about the drawback, duty-free and visa-free policies and enhancing the development of lottery and transportation industries. Local enterprises in Hainan Province, such as Haima Automobile and Hainan Airlines Group, communicated with the representatives from Kaliningrad regarding strengthening the auto enterprises’ cooperation and starting flight courses.

It is reported that Hainan Province and Kaliningrad are all special economic zones in China and Russia with favorable investment policies. In addition Russia has become the first overseas tourist source country for Hainan Province for three years; therefore there will be broad cooperation space in tourism.
