Sailboat Yapai wins 2012 Tour of West Hainan International Regatta
Sailboat Yapai finished first in the 2012 Tour of West Hainan International Regatta ending on Thursday.
After sailing from Sanya, China’s southernmost city to Haikou, capital city of South China’s Hainan Province for over 30 hours since starting on Tuesday, Yapai got to Haikou first with people waiting in the port to garland all sailors and open the champagne for celebration.
Sailboat Yapai, which participated in the previous two years of Hainan Regatta, was the champion of 2011 Tour of Hainan International Regatta.
"We make full use of the wind direction in the race with no mistakes, thus to win the first place," said Zhang Haipeng, captain of sailboat Yapai.
"Sailors have been sailing together for about five years and we work in good tune," he added.
The Haikou in-port race will be continued as part of 2012 Tour of Hainan Regatta on Friday.
