7 Shenzhen sailboats wins qualification for 2012 Tour of Hainan Int’l Regatta
Seven sailboats taking Shenzhen as home port made good performance and qualified for the 2012 Tour of Hainan International Regatta after winning the trial race on Monday, according to organizing committee of this event.
Sailboat Vatti got the first place in the preliminary round on Monday and qualified from the amateur group for the tour, followed by another three Shenzhen-based sailboats, including Yatu, Hailang and Vanke Langqi, all of which made it to the tour after finishing from the second to fourth in Monday’s race.
Meanwhile, three professional teams, including sailboat Derun, Yapai and Plus One, also with Shenzhen as home port, joined in the tour of Hainan Regatta, which started from Sanya on Tuesday.
Sixteen sailboats or seventy percent of the 23 participating teams in this year’s Regatta come from Shenzhen.
As of 9:00 am on Wednesday, Shenzhen-based sailboat Yapai will get first during the tour of the west of Hainan Regatta from Sanya, China’s southernmost city to Haikou, Capital of South China’s Hainan Province, followed by another two Shenzhen-based sailboats Plus One and Derun, according to the organizing committee.
With the distance of about 260 nautical miles (equivalent to about 481 kilometers), the tour of the west of Hainan International Regatta may reach Haikou by the late night of Wednesday or daybreak of Thursday.
