Haikou duty free shop rakes in RMB1.4m in sales volume on opening day
The opening of the duty free shop in Haikou Meilan Airport on Wednesday has received 6,000 visitors and the shop reported 1.4 million yuan in sales volume, reports xinhuanet.com.
Unlike Sanya duty free shop opened in April this year, the Haikou duty free shop is operated by the newly-founded state-owned Hainan Provincial Duty Free Co. Ltd.
The shop is the first duty-free shop at an airport on the Chinese mainland.
The shop is divided into A and B areas. A total of 1.070 imported items were displayed on its opening day.
