Hong Kong golfer Zhang Xin Jun wins final leg of China PGA in Hainan
Genting Hong Kong is pleased to announce that a young member of the Genting Golf Team, 24-year-old Zhang Xin Jun, has risen through the ranks of consummate players and won the final leg of the China Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Championship Tour in Hainan. For two consecutive years, Genting Hong Kong supported the game of golf in mainland China and contributed to the growth of Chinese golfers via its sponsorship of China PGA.
Held between Jan 12-15 at Hainan Xing Long Kangle Garden Resort Golf Club, a number of tournament champions, seasoned international golfers and players from Genting Golf Team (including Zhang Xin Jun, Yuan Hao, Wu Wei Huang, Kong Wei Hai and Su Dong) showed their best swings and putts to vie for a purse of US$200,000 in the 4-day tournament.
This was Zhang's fifth champion win. He enthused, "I am thrilled to wrap up the China PGA with a champion title. All of us in the Genting Golf Team are very proud of the team and we are thankful for Genting Hong Kong's generous support. We look forward to another year of great performance."
The China PGA Hainan final leg followed the seasonal deployment of SuperStar Aquarius, a cruise vessel from Genting Hong Kong's member company Star Cruises, to Sanya. As part of Hainan tourism industry, Genting Hong Kong is delighted that the tournament has given Hainan's sports tourism a leg up in the competitive tourism market.
With Genting Hong Kong's support, Zhang refined his skills in various tournaments this year. At the World Golf Championships-HSBC Golf Champions 2011, Zhang placed 13th, the highest finish by a Chinese player in the history of the series.
