More than 3,000 orphans from Hainan province have received insurance contracts to cover the treatment of a total of 12 types of critical illness, Xinhua News Agency reported.
 
An insurance fund created through donations became accessible for one year on Jan 1, according to Heidi Hu, managing director of the China Children Insurance Foundation.
 
Each insured child is covered for 100,000 yuan at a premium of 50 yuan a year, said Huang Lishui, general manager of the Beijing branch of PICC Health Insurance Company Ltd.
