On October 18th, 2019 (local Uruguayan time), the Uruguayan government held a welcome party for participants in the Clipper Round-the-World Yacht Race, including sailors, their family members, and sponsorship representatives. At the ceremony, the government provided characteristic Uruguayan food and live music.

During the event, Sanya ambassadors gave an introduction on the 6th Asian Beach Games, which will be held from November 28th to December 6th, 2020 in Sanya, to all attendees. Guests were encouraged to write down their blessings for the event and signed their names on a themed banner.

Mr. Afshin, the only Iranian sailor of the eleven-strong fleet of ships, said he would take part in the 6th Asian Beach Games with the aim of continuing to build his special bond with Sanya. He regards himself as a half-Sanya ambassador as he is one of the sailors of the “Visit Sanya, China” team of the Clipper 2019-to-2020 Race.

The Sanya team also promoted the 6th Asian Beach Games in a Clipper business exchange meeting themed “Import and Export Trade of Latin America.” Several officials gathered in Punta del Este to explore business opportunities, including Ian Duddy, British ambassador to Uruguay, Juan José Barboza, the Minister of International Economic Organization Department and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the founder of the Clipper Round-the-World Yacht Race, and other elites and Sanya representatives. Sanya representatives delivered an introduction on Sanya’s abundant tourism resources and great business opportunities made available by the city’s free trade zone development, and sincerely invited all attendees to learn more about Sanya during the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya.
