After 23 days’ voyage from Cape Town in South Africa, covering more than 5,500 miles,  the “Visit Sanya, China” team crossed the finish line of Leg 3 of the Clipper Round-the-World Yacht Race and arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia at 11:11:47 on December 20th, 2019 (Beijing time).

The “Visit Sanya, China” team, led by Scottish skipper Seumas Kellock, weathered strong waves and winds while crossing the Indian Ocean.

During the voyage, the Sanya team was threatened by hails, lightning and strong downpours. The Sanya Ambassadors of the third leg are Qian Xueyao and Yuan Xi, both of whom are experienced sailors. They showed their confidence and profession during the voyage.

The Sanya team was warmly received by the locals in Fremantle, Australia. The Sanya team was responsible for a crash in Cape Town while setting sails for the third leg. Therefore, the results of this leg of the race will not be included in the final list for Sanya team, according to the ruling.

After a brief stay in Fremantle, the Sanya team will leave on December 24th, 2019, embarking on the fourth leg of the race. The Sanya Ambassadors of the following leg will be Ms. Sun Jing and Mr. Zhu Qiang.

It’s 50 days to go before the eleven-strong fleet arrive in Sanya. The tropical city is expected to host the sailors and their families and staffs from February 10th to 21st, 2020.
