Sanya team scores 2 points while crossing the South Indian Ocean
On December 28th, 2019, Sanya team was excited to secure two points in the Clipper Round-the-world Yacht Race. The additional points helped to boost the crew’s morale, which had suffered after the team experienced a setback during the race’s third leg due to a boat-on-boat crash in Cape Town.
Part of the boat “Visit Sanya, China” was damaged during the voyage from Fremantle, Australia to Sanya, China. It is expected to take about five days to repair the damaged part.
Despite the challenges the crew faces on such a long voyage, the sailors passed a joyous Christmas holiday on the boat. They exchanged secret Sanya gifts as a way of celebrating the day.
On December 30th, 2019, the team was still about 2,500 miles from its next destination of Sanya.
