China Southern Power Grid Co Ltd, one of the country's two central government-owned power grid operators, recently said in a press release that the five provinces it services will face a power shortage of 8-14 million kilowatts in 2012.

The five provinces, namely Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Guizhou and Yunnan, are expected to face the worst power shortage between March and May of next year.
