Sanya debuts film to celebrate Clipper 2017-18 Race’s win
A 33-minute bilingual documentary focusing on the Sanya Serenity Coast team’s performance in the 2017-18 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race goes global.
The documentary, called “Sailing to the Far End of the World,” documents the tale of Sanya Serenity Coast becoming the first-ever Chinese team to clinch an overall victory in the Clipper Race, which concluded in Liverpool on July 28th, 2018.
Led by Clipper Race skipper Wendy Tuck, 53, from Sydney, over 60 non-professional crew members represented the tropical destination of Sanya as they competed in 13 individual races aboard the Clipper 70.
The 2019-20 season of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will be held in Sanya for the second time. Solicitation for the Sanya Ambassador crew — to represent Sanya City in the 2019-20 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race — began in March 2019. About 60 candidates from a broad range of backgrounds applied to be considered for the crew. Thirty candidates were chosen for consideration and will compete in a series of tests to be held in Sanya this month. They will have the chance to represent the city in the 2019-20 edition of the epic 40,000 nautical mile circumnavigation when it kicks off this summer.
