Sanya Serenity Coast reaches Liverpool for Clipper Race Aug 20
Sanya’s debut Clipper Race team yacht entry, Sanya Serenity Coast, along with other eleven matched Clipper 70 foot ocean racing yachts arrived at Albert Dock, Liverpool, England for the start of this year’s round the world race on August 15th, 2017.
There are around 70 crew members from home and abroad work for the Sanya Serenity Coast. Among them, 18 candidates have been selected as Sanya Ambassadors for the Clipper 2017-18 Race. They are Daniel Newham, Marco (Shuo Chang), Gordon (Hong Gao), Thomas (Feng Liu), Alan (Jun Huang), Young (Yongqiang Xie), Alice (Yanli Zhai), Hefner (Yue Xin), WeiWei (Weiwei Xing), Mindy (Mengni Jin), Big River (Xiaoqiang Han), Cindy (Wei Chen), Gideon (Dongmin Hao), Kobe (Manjiang Liu), Richard (Xinmin Zhang) and Daniel (Shan Yangyang), as well as two media crew, Wanbert and Ming (Hao Ming).
The arrival of the Clipper Race fleet into Liverpool also coincided with the opening of the Race Village at Albert Dock. From August 17th to the Race Start, Albert Dock will be the centre of entertainment and activities. There will be opportunities to look around one of the Clipper 70-foot ocean racing yachts, ‘About the Clipper Race’ free public talks, as well as displays and demonstrations by Official Partners and Suppliers.
The twelve teams will be working hard throughout the week to be ready for the biggest day in their Clipper Race journeys to date – Race Start on August 20th, 2017.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to skipper the Sanya Serenity Coast team during the Clipper 2017-18 Race”, said Wendy Tuck, the Australian skipper.
“It will be great to work alongside such a dynamic new partner to the Clipper Race and promote Sanya as a tourist destination as we race around the world”, she added.
During the period, the Sanya authorities will take the opportunity to organize a series of activities to show the city’s excellent marina facilities and a strong sailing heritage to the global sailing fans and spectators.
