Since 2011, the number of tourists from Taiwan visiting Hainan has been rising rapidly, making Taiwan one of the important tourist source markets.

In 2010, Taiwanese tourists have seen a 30% year on year growth. In the first half of this year alone, tourists from Taiwan exceeded 70,000, far more than 2010’s annual figure of 68,000.

According to the Provincial Tourism Development Commission, the tropical coastal tourist products and golf tourism industry are the two selling points attracting Taiwanese tourists to Hainan.

At the end of October, the launch of direct flights by China Airlines and EVA Air between two regions also helps expand the tourism market and bring a lot of convenience to travelers.

The flight occupancy reached over 80% since the direct route came into service in November. It is expected to continue to rise in the following months, said the GM of China Airlines.
