Baidu Map, one of the biggest map services in China, has recently released a report on the urban vitality of Chinese cities in the second quarter of 2020. The Report showed that Sanya’s urban nightlife recovery ranked first nationwide, and Sanya’s urban travel intensity recovery ranked second among domestic cities.

The Report was jointly compiled by Baidu Map Insight and College of Architecture & Urban Planning of Tongji University. It was based on analysis of collected population flow data on the company’s open platform.

Along with the progresses made in the fight against the COVID-19, urban nightlife economy in China has been gradually recovering. Sanya, Haikou and Nanning topped the hot spots among the Chinese cities in terms of urban nightlife vitality recovery.


Urban nightlife vitality recovery index list: top ten Chinese cities in Q2 of 2020:

Sanya, Haikou, Nanning, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Changsha, Quanzhou, Guiyang, Kunming, Hangzhou, and Xi’an

According to the report, 80 percent of cities in China have recovered to more than 90 percent of the levels from the same period a year earlier in terms of the urban travel intensity in a city.
