Sanya Airport: Supervision port for imported plant seeds & seedlings
The V3 first-class lounge in the domestic terminal at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, which was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 epidemic, has been put into operation again early this week.
Sanya Phoenix International Airport has been selected as one of China’s latest batch of five eligible designated ports for the supervision of imported plant seeds and seedlings, according to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.
Based on the planning and deployment of Sanya global animal and plant germplasm resources introduction transit base in Hainan Province, under the guidance and support of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government and Sanya Customs Bureau, Sanya airport has completed the installation of fumigatin, isolation, detention and inspection facilities, and also passed all the assessments by the General Administration of Customs of China.
Sanya airport is allowed to import eight varieties of plant seeds and seedlings, including plant seeds, seedlings, rootstock, scions, cuttings, corms, roots and test-tube seedlings.
The designation will help to smooth the channels of imported seedlings, ensuring the safe introduction of high-quality plant seeds and other breeding materials, so as to promote the diversified development of planting industry and enhance the development of Hainan agriculture. At the same time, it will also help prevent the proliferation of alien pests, which is of great significance to the protection of local plant species resources and the construction of ecological civilization in Hainan.
