Officials from the Sanya Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau are working to structurally reform the city’s tourism supply chain and to upgrade the city’s industrial sector, as part of a broader effort to promote quality development in the city’s tourism industry.

The government is encouraging scenic spots, hotels and rural attractions to improve its tourist facilities and services and optimize the tourism product structure to better meet the diversified needs of residents and tourists alike.

Starting from March 1st, 2020, Atlantis Sanya, a forerunner of the supply-side reform of Sanya’s tourism industry, has been working to build its reputation as a national 4A-level scenic spot. The resort is upgrading the scenic supporting infrastructure with focuses on the visitor information centers, tourism restrooms, travel guide signs and travel route designs in strict accordance with relevant requirements and standards.

The phase one and phase two constructions of the Sanya Duty-free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay have received on-site investigations by an inspection team from provincial tourism authorities. The two facilities generally meet the criteria to apply for the national 4A scenic spot.

To provide a more convenient and comfortable tourism experience for local residents and tourists, Sanya Romance Park is working to improve its tourist facilities including tourist service centers, parking lots, scenic roadways, travel guide signs, and more in the park.

In addition, under the guidance of the Sanya Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports, Bohou Village in Jiyang District completed the improvement in hardware facilities and service quality in accordance with requirements and standards to apply for the Hainan’s 5-coconut-rated rural site.

Currently, nine homestays in Sanya have been listed among the first group of golden, silver and bronze-rated homestays in Hainan Province.

Sanya will continue to focus on supply-side reform of the tourism industry, accelerating the improvement of urban infrastructure in preparation for the 6th Asian Beach Games 2020. At the same time, Sanya will carry out measures to help tourism enterprises to optimize product structure, working out travel packages with local characteristics, with an aim of stimulating consumption and promoting quality development of the regional tourism industry in the post-epidemic era.
