Wuhan eases travel restrictions, first flight arrives in Sanya
At 9:46 a.m. on April 8th, 2020, a China Southern Airlines flight (flight number MU2527), carrying 48 passengers, which had departed from Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, arrived at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport. It was the first flight our of Wuhan and the first flight to travel from Wuhan to Sanya since the Wuhan citywide lockdown for outbound traffic was lifted.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), with the sole exception of the Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, domestic passenger flights at airports in Hubei Province resumed operations from March 29th, 2020. Staring on April 8th, 2020, the Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan began restoring operations for domestic passenger flights.
The Sanya Airport is now thoroughly disinfected daily, in accordance with anti-epidemic regulations. Other preventative anti-epidemic measures including temperature and health checks and information registration are also being carried out for travelers in the departure and arrival halls.
Sanya airport is actively working with airline companies to gradually restore flights from Sanya to the city of Shiyan in the near future, in order to help enterprises in Hubei province ensure orderly resumption of work and production.
