Hainan to ban disposable non-degradable plastic products in Dec. 2020
Hainan has released a list of the first batch of single-use non-degradable plastic products that will be banned in the province.
The single-use non-degradable plastic products will be banned from production, sale, and use starting December 1st, 2020.
The list includes products such as non-disposable plastic bags and tableware containing non-biodegradable polymers such as polythene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
The list was made in accordance with a regulation Hainan has issued to ban single-use non-degradable plastic products for the purpose of promoting the development of a national ecological civilization pilot zone and for strengthening the prevention and control of plastic waste pollution.
