Sanya tops domestic post-epidemic travel bucket list
To strengthen the confidence of the tourism industry and to facilitate a recovery from the tourism downturn caused by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis, the Trip.com Group Limited held an online press conference to announce the launch of the V “Plan for Travel Revival” on March 5th, 2020.
The Trip.com Group Limited will join hands with more than a hundred tourist destinations and ten thousand brands by providing RMB 1 billion of travel revival funds to promote tourism consumption and revitalize the post-epidemic tourism economy.
The Trip.com Group Limited released the 2020 Post-Epidemic Destination Travel Recovery Index Report. The index keeps a tally of “recovery points” for hundreds of destinations through the big data platform “Travel Observer.” According to the report, Sanya topped travelers’ post-epidemic travel bucket lists when compared to China’s hottest tourist and seaside destinations.

The “Travel Observer” data platform is a travel recovery prediction model for 2020 established by the Trip.com Group Limited. They created the platform by analyzing the following factors: tourism industry recovery data indicators before and after the global public health and safety events, the growth potential of the tourism industry in 2019 and 2020, predictions about epidemic development, users’ behavior in searching for information, browsing, ordering, collection, and seasonal factors.
