Sanya Airport’s passengers continue to surge, hit 20m in 2019
The last flight of 2019, China Southern Airlines’ flight CZ6430 from Zhengzhou safely landed at the Sanya International Phoenix Airport.
As of year-end 2019, the Sanya International Phoenix Airport had for the year handled 123,291 flights arriving at or departing from the airport, up by 1.5 percent year-on-year. The airport served 20.164 million passengers, and cargo and mail throughput reached 99,783.2 tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively.
On December 29th, 2019, passenger throughput at the airport hit a record high of 20 million for the year.
In 2019, the Sanya Airport clinched the “Best Airport in Asia-Pacific” and “Best Customer Service Airport” awards in the “2018 ACI Global Airports by Size: 15-25 Million Passengers” category.
In 2019, the Sanya Airport added 34 new air routes to domestic and international destination cities. As of December 31st, 2019, the airport was operating a total of 151 air routes — 110 domestic and 41 international and regional – with services reaching 98 cities. Of those cities, 62 were domestic and 36 were international and regional destinations. The Sanya Airport has organized and taken part in about 10 aviation tourism promotional events, aiming to customize its products for a variety of passenger needs and promote Sanya in a variety of ways.
International Cargo Logistics Area at Sanya International Phoenix Airport
The Sanya airport also upgrades the one-stop customs supervision and clearance services to facilitate the international express businesses, and to promote the construction of bonded logistics center. The airport has also been qualified as the port of transportation for dangerous goods. In addition, the airport takes advantage of the exiting air routes to Russian-speaking regions to develop itself into a transit hub for cargo traffic to Far East.
In 2019, the international cargo throughput at the airport totaled 749 tons, a year-on-year increase of 52.8 percent.
The Sanya authories and officials saw the first flight of 2020 off at Sanya International Phoenix Airport. The Hainan Airlines’ flight HU7749 from Sanya to Shenzhen successfully took off in the early morning of January 1st, 2020.
In 2020, the Sanya Airport is embarking on a new journey towards providing high-quality services. The airport will continue to offer “heartfelt services,” and to contribute to the development of Hainan Province as a free trade port.
