On October 25th, 2019, under the Luhuitou sculpture, the famous landmark of the Sanya, a ceremony was held to release the emblem and slogan of the 6th Asian Beach Games 2020, which is a milestone for the preparation of Hainan’s first intercontinental comprehensive sports meeting.

1On the spot, through the light show of 400 drones, the emblem of the 6th Asian Beach Games 2020 was cleverly displayed in the form of storytelling, pushing the ceremony to the climax.

The emblem is composed of sun’s rays, ocean elements and embodiments of Hainan. The main colors of blue, green, yellow and orange symbolize the fashion and openness of Sanya and beach sports in Hainan. The Arabic numeral “6” superimposed on the color blocks represents the ‘sixth session’ of the event.

In addition to sun’s rays, the similarity to the emblem of the Olympic Council of Asia (hereafter referred to as “OCA”), the emblemof the 6th Asian Beach Games also bears local natural elements such as coconut trees and waves, which convey the ecological civilization of Sanya people in harmony with nature.

The deer in the emblem is a manifestation of freedom and rationality, which not only presents the beautiful and romantic characteristics of this “Deer City”, but also highlights the urban characteristics of openness, tolerance and innovation, reflecting Sanya’s confidence and determination to hold a fashionable, environmental, wonderful and splendid sports meeting.

At 7 o’clock that night, “See ya in Sanya” – the theme slogan of the 6th Asian Beach Games in 2020 was officially released. The Chinese slogan is taken from the lyrics of Hainan’s popular folk song “Long time no see, long time to see”, with simple but deep meaning to pass the core concept of the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya for “running an excellent event to innovate a city”, reflecting the values of harmonious openness, co-construction and sharing.

It also delivers Hainan people’s sincere invitation to the people around the world to build a beautiful home and share the fruits of development, the firm belief in the openness, inclusiveness and innovative development of a beautiful city with thousand-year civilization striding towards a new era, the wishes of 9 million Hainanese to contribute to building a peaceful and beautiful world.

The English slogan “see ya in Sanya” has a distinctive syntactic structure, “ya” is a proverbial saying of “you”, so “see ya” bears the meaning of “welcome”. And the sound of “ya” is also close to that of the first character of the game’s name in Chinese. This simple but catchy slogan with profound meanings is easy to remember and spread.

At the ceremony of releasing the emblem and slogan, Raja Randhir Singh, the Life Vice President of OCA and the Chairman of the Coordination Committee of OCA, Wei Jizhong, Honorary Life Vice President of OCA and the member of the Coordination Committee of OCA, sent a congratulatory video.

As the important elements for holding a sports meeting, the emblem and slogan can highly generalize the unique concept of a distinctive sports meeting. On 19 July, 2019, the Organizing Committee of the Asian Beach Games in Sanyabegan accepting the slogans and emblems globally, and finally collected 3,218 works. After the professional selection by many well-known domestic experts and the careful review of representatives from all walks of life, the emblem and slogan have eventually been determined.

In the coming future, the Organizing Committee of the Asian Beach Games will tend to display the emblem and sloganin various electronic advertisement screens, scenic spots, hotels and shopping malls, serving as the carrier of cultural and design activities to further enhance the reputation of the Asian Beach Games in Sanya.

The 6th Asian Beach Games will be held in Sanya from November 28th to December 6th, 2020. It is the first time for Hainan to hold a comprehensive intercontinental sports event, which is also the only intercontinental comprehensive sports event held in China in 2020. With the release of the emblem and slogan, the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanyais approaching.
