Mr. Edmund Ko, Chairman of the Marriott International Hainan Business Council
“It is delightful to see our associates passionately contributing to the community,” Mr. Ko said. “I believe that together, we can drive meaningful impact to our community with their spirit of sport and deliver aid to children in need.”
“Run to Give” marked the first associate event where legacy Starwood and Marriott International came together to celebrate a meaningful cause after the merger in September 2016. Marriott International in the Hainan region has organized the annual “Run to Give” event since 2016, bringing together hotel associates from across the island province in support of local charities.
Mr. Wang Fengli and Ms. Wang Feifei from the Sheraton Sanya Resort claimed their wins in men’s group and women’s group, respectively.
“Run to Give” is a key event in the Asia Pacific region, and is part of the company’s “TakeCare” movement, which aims to encourage associates to live their best lives by promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing and creating strong team synergy, while reinforcing the company’s core value, “We Serve Our World.” Craig S. Smith, President and Managing Director of Marriott International Asia Pacific, remarked at the event, “As Marriott International grows bigger, our core belief that we should serve our world stays the same. With the increased presence of our hotels in terms of footprint and associate strength, we’ve worked harder to create positive sustainable social and economic impact in the communities where our associates live and work. This is the way we take care of our people and our world.
