A press conference for the 4th Sanya International Cultural Industry Fair (SICIF) was held in Sanya on August 28th, 2019. Officials at the conference announced that the 2019 fair will be held from December 28th to 31st, 2019.


The fair’s main venue will be the Sanya Bay Mangrove Tree Resort and Exhibition Center, which features total exhibition area of 30,000 square meters. Nearly 30,000 cultural products from home and abroad will be on display at the event.


The fair will attract over 300 exhibitors from home and abroad, including overseas exhibitors from more than 40 counties and regions along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.


The fair will feature nine exhibition zones laid out by theme, as follows: the “Belt and Road” Initiative, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Hainan Free Trade Zone (Port), Domestic Provinces and Cities, International Tourism Consumption Center, Culture and Tourism Integration, Digital Cultural and Technology, Healthcare, Sports and Culture, and the Today Art Exposition.


In addition, 18 sub-venues have been established at various locations across the city, including Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot, Yalong Bay Tropical Forest Park, Wuzhizhou Island, and Atlantis Sanya. The sub-venues will present a platform for promoting Sanya’s cultural products that will help boost the development of the city’s cultural and tourism industries.

A series of culture and entertainment events will be held throughout the day and night during the expo, which aims to be an international cultural bonanza for visitors. Those events will include the 2nd Sanya International Cultural Creative Design Contest, the 2019 Hainan Free Trade Zone (Port) Culture and Tourism Summit, the Sanya Cultural Show, the 2020 Sanya New Year International Concert, a Fun-filled Night Workshop, and the 2019 Sanya Cultural Industry Promotional Conference and Project Signing Ceremony.

He said in his speech that Sanya, an important strategic pivot city on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, aims to use the 2019 SICIF to build a trade platform to actively promote cultural industry exchanges between China and other countries and regions.

The SICIF has been held on an annual basis since 2015, and has developed into one of Sanya’s major cultural industry exhibitions. Over the past three years, the fair has attracted around 257,000 people who have served as exhibitors, buyers, and visitors. The fair has also enjoyed extensive media coverage, with more than 200 media outlets reporting on the events in nine languages overseas.

So far, the event’s on-site transactions total RMB 86.5 million. A total of 63 cultural projects have been signed securing intentional transactions. The SICIF also helps boost the local economy. Total consumer spending related to travel, transportation, catering, entertainment, and other businesses in Sanya has reached RMB 125 million.
