Sanya is hub for express parcels for South Pacific countries
According to Sanya Customs, Sanya International Express Center has handled a total of 96,274 pieces of international express mail and packages (Category B), with a total value of up to RMB 17.91 million, since its official opening at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport on August 10th, 2018.
Currently, the Sanya international express business mainly relies on air transport services from Auckland to Sanya. The air route is operated by two domestic airline companies —Hainan Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
According to the current statistics, a large portion of the parcels are goods purchased by Hainan residents from overseas e-commerce platforms. The rest are delivered to other parts of the country via major distribution cities including Chengdu, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, after passing through Sanya’s ports.
The goods are mainly milk powder, health care products, and wool products from Australia. A smaller portion of the parcels contain clothing and red wine from the United States, Italy, and Germany.
