World Laureates Sanya Forum held in Haitang Bay
The World Laureates Sanya Forum is being held in Haitang Bay from August 22nd to 23rd, 2019. The event is the first such large-scale gathering of top scientists from different fields to be held in China. It is an important event on a world scale.
The forum brings together twelve Nobel laureates in physics, chemistry, and physiology, as well as nine recipients of other prestigious academic awards such as the Wolf Prize, the Turing Award, the Fields Medal, and the Lasker Award. Also attending are 28 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The forum is themed “Smart Ocean, Intelligent Agriculture.” The two-day forum consists of six sub-forums, including a Marine Life and Health Industry Forum, an Intelligent Ocean Forum, a Modern Agriculture and Eco-industry Forum, a Marine Ecology and Sci-Tech Industry Forum, a Medical Health Development Forum, and an Intelligent Technology and Future Science Forum.
The Opening Ceremony for the Sanya Academician Association Inaugural Meeting was held during the event.
The purpose of staging this science extravaganza is to harness the vision and influences of top-notch scientists in assisting Sanya in its quest to develop its strategic emerging industries in the key fields of deep-sea science and technology, Nanfan breeding technology, and aerospace science and technology. The event is intended to help Hainan develop into a national pilot free trade zone (port).
