Sanya takes the lead in building China’s first language barrier-free international city
Public space multilingual signage system, 24-hour hotline for foreign language service, multilingual tourism service system, intelligent translation terminal, service center for foreigners… On the morning of July 14, Sanya city held a press conference and released Work Program on Sanya Barrier-free International City Construction, taking the lead in building a language barrier-free international city in China.
Promoting the construction of a language barrier-free international city is vital to the law-based international business environment and the construction of coastal metropolis in Sanya. According to the director of Sanya municipal government affairs service center, Sanya will promote the implementation of the construction in three different stages and four aspects: sign system construction, service network construction, multilingual translation service and information system. Specifically, it will integrate various foreign-related application scenarios, including tourism consumption, government affairs, public services, and business activities. Besides, it will establish an open and shared international language service system, combining foreign service centers, immigration service centers, tourism information consultation centers, tourist service centers and municipal service center to create a convenient, intelligent and humanistic service platform, providing the all-weather, multi-domain and multi-lingual professional translation services for foreigners. In the near future, tourism, work, life and business investment environment in Sanya will be more comfortable, convenient and efficient.
“Language accessibility would promote popular feelings and trade. Thus, in order to start the construction of the language barrier-free international city, we must keep the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping in mind, make solid progress in boosting the construction of free trade port and free trade zone, and create a favorable business environment. Meanwhile, it further strengthens the urbanity and good taste of Sanya and promotes the upgrade of international tourism consumption service in Sanya. ”At the press conference, Chen Tiejun, Member of the Standing Committee of Sanya Municipal Committee of the CPC, Executive Vice Mayor of Sanya Municipal People’s Government, claims that Sanya will adopt the construction model of government planning, enterprise investment and construction, and phased procurement to take the lead in promoting service center for foreigners, immigration service centers and related supporting facilities, as well as realize the upgrading of multilingual services in a number of government front-line departments. At the same time, Sanya will combine new technologies and formats to explore in-depth services such as AR real-time image translation and simultaneous interpretation of artificial intelligence, taking the lead in building China’s first language barrier-free international city.
The service scene was demonstrated at the press conference, and the Sanya Phoenix Border Inspection Station introduced the pilot project case experience.
Main highlights of language barrier-free international city construction in Sanya
★ Service center for foreigners
The foreigner consulting agency service center will be established in the Dadonghai area to provide various services, including policy consultation, guidance agency, and complaint feedback on foreign-related matters.
★ Immigration Service Center
The immigration service center aims to provide “one-stop” services for foreigners such as employment guidance and job application.
★ Hotline for translation service
Based on the 12345 platform, a 24-hour hotline for foreign language service is set up to provide multilingual guidance and remote human translation.
★Multilingual tourism service system
It provides multilingual information inquiry on food, accommodation, transportation, traveling, shopping and entertainment. Besides, electronic map application, online introduction and reservation for tourism products, trusted stores recommendation, and complaint suggestion feedback and other services are also provided.
★Multilingual service information platform
The international cloud platform for public service will be established, integrating tourism, government affairs, cultural and sports events, transportation and public services. Besides, it will provide multilingual real-time translation, image translation, information inquiry, and electronic map through 5G+AI artificial intelligence technology combined with big data analysis.
