In order to accelerate the promotion of new energy vehicles (NEV) and energy-saving vehicles, the Traffic Police Department of the Hainan Municipal Public Security Bureau recently issued a preferential policy to differentiate in traffic management policies between new energy vehicles and standard vehicles across the island.

According to the new policy, new energy logistics transport vehicles under 4.5 tons will not be restricted on roads on the island, a significant change from the previous limits on new energy logistics transport vehicles under 3.5 tonnes.

With the exception of special traffic control operations, new energy passenger cars and new energy freight vehicles under 4.5 tons will not be restricted on roads in Sanya’s urban areas.

Additionally, the Sanya Traffic Police Bureau will allocate some parking spaces designed for new-energy vehicles in public parking lots. The bureau will also impose strict punishments on those who violate parking rules by parking at new-energy-vehicle-only parking spaces.
