ASP Women's World Longboard Final kicked off at Riyue Bay Wanning of South China's Hainan province with 36 surfers participating.

Jennifer Smith of the United States, the longboard ASP champion in 2007 and 2009, and Justine Depont of France are favored to win the champion.

To turn Wanning into the best surfing destination in China, Wanning Government has built the largest surfing club in Asia and has signed an agreement with the World Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) on the introduction of Women's World Longboard Championship last February.

Wanning is the first city to host this 6-star world tournament. The surfing event will be held in the next three consecutive years.
