Connect2Earth: Hotels in Sanya go green for Earth Hour 2019
On March 30th, 2019, individuals, businesses and cities in 188 countries and territories worldwide joined Earth Hour 2019 to speak up for nature and inspire urgent action for the environment. #EarthHour, #Connect2Earth and related hashtags trended in 26 countries as people across the globe generated over 2 billion impressions to show their concern for nature.
In an effort to take greater collective action to promote environmental sustainability, luxury hotels in Sanya continued to play an active role in the annual Earth Hour on March 30th, 2019. Together with hotels and businesses around the world, Sanya hotels set aside an hour to host events and switched off their lights to do their part to help save the environment for future generations.

The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay hosted a range of events, including sand sculptor and beach cleaning, electric candle decoration and lighting, a Djembe class, and family games to mark Earth Hour 2019.
Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort and Spa hosted a range of activities such as coconut bowling, facial painting, live band performance and dances to mark Earth Hour 2019.
Rosewood Sanya turned off non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 30th, 2019.
Hilton Sanya Yalong Bay Resort hosted a beach costume party under the stars to celebrate Earth Hour 2019
Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Starting as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for our planet and nature.
On March 28th, 2009, some hotels in Sanya, including Sheraton Sanya Resort, The Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay, Holiday Inn Resort Sanya Bay, and Holiday Inn Resort Sanya Yalong Bay, joined the Earth Hour campaign for the first time by switching off non-essential lights for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
