During the inspection tour, five golf courses are on their visiting agenda, including Luhuitou Golf Club, Yalong Bay Golf Club and Haitang Bay Begonia Golf Club in Sanya, and Mission Hills Haikou and Shenzhou Peninsula Golf Club in Wanning. The group will spend a few days touring local scenic spots and participating in a series of folk events, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of Hainan’s tourism resources. Additionally, members of the delegation said that they would develop tailor-made golf tour products in order to meet demand for leisure and holiday vacations for tourists from North Europe.

Sanya has been committed to the growth of golf tourism as part of the city’s strategic tourism development. The local government has helped Sanya develop into a leading hotspot for golf in Asia, as well as a preferred golf tourism destination in the Asia-Pacific region.

At present, Sanya is home to 13 golf courses, all within a one-hour drive of each other, with beautiful surroundings, in locations including Luhuitou Peninsula in the city center, Yalong Bay, the mountains around Baoting, and along the coast of Haitang Bay.

Additionally, Hainan Airlines will open a new Sanya-Beijing-Oslo air route on May 15th, 2019. The opening of the air route will also effectively enhance Sanya’s tourism expansion into the Nordic market.

With the same latitude as some well-known golf destinations such as Hawaii and Miami, Sanya enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and has an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. In addition, with the city’s convenient domestic and international flight connections, and top luxury hotels and resorts dotting the city’s coastline, Sanya has the right ingredients for becoming a major international golf destination.
