Sanya received a total of 131,400 visitors during the 2019 three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 7th to 9th, 2019, down 0.93 percent year-on-year. Tourism revenue during the holiday reached RMB 492 million, a year-on-year increase of 0.54 percent, according to statistics from the Sanya Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau.

Domestic & Int’l Tourist Arrivals


From June 7th to 9th, 2019, the top five source provinces or cities for domestic visitors to Sanya were Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Chongqing and Jiangsu. As for tourist arrivals from overseas countries and regions, the top five sources were Russia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and Macao.

Hotel Room Occupancy Rate

The hotel room occupancy rate across the city averaged 60.99 percent. The average hotel room rates and average hotel occupancy rates in four major bays and the downtown area:

Yalong Bay (RMB1,312; 70.49 percent)

Haitang Bay (RMB1,268; 69.5 percent)

Sanya Bay (RMB439; 59.52 percent)

Dadonghai (RMB 464; 61.27 percent)

Downtown area (RMB278; 48.24 percent)

Major scenic spots in Sanya together received a total of 203,100 visitors. Among the major scenic spots, Nanshan Tourism Culture Zone received 29,700 visitors; Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot received 18,100 visitors; Wuzhizhou Island received 16,700 visitors; Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park received 17,400 visitors; Sanya Romance Park received 53,700 visitors; West Island received 3,500 visitors; Luhuitou Park Scenic Spot received 5,400 visitors; Dongtian Park received 6,500 visitors; Haichang Fantasy Town received 14,900 visitors;, and Atlantis Sanya resort complex received 21,700 visitors.

Tourist Arrivals at Rural Sites

Sanya’s major rural attractions received 14,200 visitors during the holiday period. Statistics for the three rural spots are as follows: Zhongliao Village received 5,400 visitors; Yalong Bay Rose Valley received 5,200 visitors and Haitang Bay Rice Paddy Park received 3,200 visitors.

Air & Rail Passenger Volume

From June 6th to 8th, 2019, the city handled 237,900 passengers, down 4.33 percent year on year.

During the same period, the Sanya Phoenix International Airport operated a total of 858 flights, and passenger volume reached 134,700.

The Sanya Railway Station serviced 103,200 passengers, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4 percent.

Tourist Spending

Per-capita consumption of overnight visitors was RMB 1,516.03 per day during the holiday, and per-capita consumption of one-day tour visitors reached RMB 541.58.
