Sanya rewards good workers for excellent tourism services

On May 13th, 2019, an awards ceremony for conferring the “Sanya’s Most Beautiful Tourism Workers 2019” awards was held at the International Convention Center at Mangrove Tree Resort World Sanya Bay.

The citywide selection campaign for “Sanya’s Most Beautiful Tourism Workers” began in March 2019. A total of 463 candidates from a broad range of positions in the tourism industry submitted applications.

Ten people working in the tourism industry were awarded for their consistently excellent customer service. These “beautiful tourism workers” included a tour guide, a scenic tourist guide, a front desk receptionist, a room attendant, a restaurant attendant, a driver, a life guard, a shopping guide, a tourism volunteer, and a tourism guard.

Nearly 600 attendees attended the awards ceremony, including the following: Zheng Youji, member of the Communist Party of the Hainan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and Vice President of the Hainan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions; Zhang Zhenhua, Secretary and Director of the Standing Committee of the Sanya Municipal People’s Congress; Rong Liping, Secretary and Chairman of the Sanya Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Chen Tiejun, Deputy Mayor, Deputy Party Secretary, and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sanya Municipal Committee; Zhang Yufei, Vice Director of the Standing Committee of the Sanya Municipal People’s Congress; Chen Zhenmin, Director of the Sanya Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports; and representatives from the Sanya Tourism Association and tourism-related enterprises.

At the event, Mr. Chen Tiejun said that Sanya’s tourism industry is a strong pillar for regional economic growth. In 2018, Sanya received a total of 22.42 million domestic and international visitors, and tourism revenue reached RMB 51.4 billion. The city’s tourism industry is thriving due to the work of driven professionals whose passion and enthusiasm are evident in the quality services they deliver to travelers.

Mr. Chen Tiejun added that providing quality tourism services is an important means by which the city can improve its overall competitiveness as an international tropical boutique tourist destination. Providing quality tourism services is also an important part of Sanya’s soft power. Sanya is now further optimizing its tourism structure and is introducing more new tourism products with the aim of attracting more tourists. Mr. Chen Tiejun in his talk also encouraged Sanya tourism enterprises to enhance their service quality and management systems, with the aim of helping Sanya develop into a high-end tourism destination and an international tourism consumption center.
