Conference on Overseas Chinese held in Sanya, 10 projects signed
The 2019 Conference on Overseas Chinese Investment, Innovation and Pioneering (hereinafter referred to as the “Conference on Overseas Chinese”) opened today in Sanya. Nearly 1000 Chinese and overseas Chinese from all over the world gathered together. During the four-day conference, the participated guests will carry out in-depth exchange and communication on key industries in Hainan, and discuss further cooperation focusing on the new development of Sanya.
Hainan is a renowned hometown of overseas Chinese. In order to accelerate the comprehensive deepening reform of Sanya, the Conference on Overseas Chinese will focus on the talent recruitment and attracting investment, extensively uniting overseas Chinese and innovative entrepreneurial talents, promoting the industrial features of Sanya, promoting project negotiation and contract signing, and building Sanya into a world-class coastal tourism city, driving the development of “Greater Sanya Economic Circle”, and establishing a benchmark for the construction of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone (Port).
This year’s Conference on Overseas Chinese has set up a variety of theme activities, including the World Maritime Commerce (Sanya) High-end Forum, the Overseas Chinese Wealth Management & Financial Technology Forum, the Global Medical Apparatus and Instruments Industry Innovation New Development Forum, the Digital Trade Strategy Forum, the Hainan-Taiwan Agricultural Cooperation Forum, the Aerospace Industry Forum, and the Artificial Intelligence Forum. Conference on Overseas Chinese Investment, Innovation and Pioneering has eight sub-forums such as “Talent Recruitment” and a science and technology road show, providing a platform for close communication between Chinese and overseas Chinese from home and abroad. During the conference, the participated guests will gather and discuss the theme of “pool the strength of overseas Chinese, share opportunities, and accelerate the construction of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone (Port)”, combining domestic and foreign hotspots and the current status of Sanya, opening free dialogues.
During the conference, representatives of participating companies and Sanya signed 10 cooperation projects, including Sanya Incubation Ecological Zone Longmi Flower Tourism Demonstration Zone, Internet Hospital with Artificial Intelligence Application in Medical Strategic Cooperation, International Cruise Homeport Theme Park, Hainan Constellation No. 1 Satellite Equipped with Jielong No. 1 Rocket, Hainan-Taiwan Tropical Characteristic High-efficiency Agricultural Exchange Demonstration Base, and the “South Sea Ship King” Investment Cooperation, which focus on modern service industry, tourism industry and high-tech industry, with distinctive features such as concentrated investment direction and higher hierarchy.
Xie Guomin, the president of China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, said that Hainan has a unique advantage to construct a pilot free trade zone (port) and provide opportunities for overseas Chinese to invest in Hainan. Hainan is an important window for China’s opening to the outside world. He expected that Hainan will launch more open and sound laws and regulations in order attract more first-class talents from all over the world to come to Hainan for innovation and entrepreneurship. Charoen Pokphand Group is one of the first foreign-invested enterprises in Hainan. The group will further develop extensive cooperation with Sanya in the field of biotechnology.
At the opening ceremony, the Sanya Western Returned Scholars Association and Sanya Returned Overseas Scholars Startups & Innovation Park held an awarding ceremony.
Li Haifeng, former vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference ; Chen Yunlin, former director of Taiwan Affairs Office and former president of Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits; Shi Yiyun, vice chairman of the Hainan Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference; Shao Xujun, vice chairman of All-Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and chairman of the Central Committee and the State Chinese Federation; Xu Yuming, Director of the 10th Bureau of United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee g and Zhang Zhenhua, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Standing Committee of Sanya Municipal People’ s Congress attended the opening ceremony. Entrepreneurs including Xie Guomin, Xu Rongmao, Zhang Yin and Chen Lihua participated in the conference.
