Sanya’s Nanshan Port handled its first-ever 10,000-ton container ship on March 29th, 2019. The ship’s arrival marked the opening of Nanshan Port’s container business service, and a milestone for Sanya’s port shipping logistics.

The container ship, called “Hongtai No. 22,” called at Nanshan Port at 8:25 a.m. The ship carried 720 containers, weighing 10,565 tons.

Nanshan Port covers a land area of 445 hectares and has a coastline of 1354 meters. The first phase of the project features a 10,000-ton multi-purpose berth and a working vessel berth. The port is designed to have an annual capacity of 650,000 tons.

"The ship’s arrival enabled us to test our capacity for handling ships of this weight at our container terminal. We are looking forward to future growth in container traffic,” said a representative from the Sanya Port Group Co., Ltd.

Nanshan Port will make full use of the development opportunities and advantages of preferential policies granted to the international tourism consumption center and world-class coastal resort city, with the goal of advancing the logistics trade functions of Sanya City.
