The past and forecast track of tropical storm Banyan
  
The 20th tropical storm, Banyan, after leaving the Philippines early Thursday, has weakened into a low pressure system towards the South China Sea, according to the national meteorological forecast centre.
 
In 24 hours, it is moving northwest with a speed of 20 kph and it is forecast to hang over the south part of the South China Sea with winds reduced to 16 mps.
 
The storm is not expected to head towards Hainan but most parts of the island will remain wet with rain over the next three days.
