A Sanya delegation attended the 38th General Assembly Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia in Bangkok on March 3rd, 2019. The meeting reviewed the report from the Sanya delegation regarding the 6th Asian Beach Games.

The dates for the 6th ABG are set from Saturday, November 28th to Sunday, December 6th, 2020. At the meeting, the sports program was also finalized. The program includes 16 sports:

4.Beach handball

5.Beach kabaddi

6.Beach soccer

7.Beach volleyball

8.Beach woodball

9.Beach duathlon (swimming and running)

12.Sailing (sailboat, windsurfing, kite surfing)

The competition venues will be located at Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, and Haitang Bay.

The delegation expressed the hope that Sanya will turn the 6th Asian Beach Games into a grand sports event with tropical ocean features.

The city also plans to host the Chinese Enterprise Staff Beach Games in December 2019. The event will serve as a “rehearsal” for the Asian Games.

Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, the OCA President, described Sanya as a charming tropical seaside city.
