New int’l physician training center to be built in Haitang Bay
The Sanya government will cooperate with the Mayo Clinic, a nonprofit academic medical center based in the U.S. state of Minnesota, to build a joint healthcare project in Haitang Bay in the near future.
On February 14th, 2019, a medical delegation from the Mayo Clinic visited Sanya and met with A Dong, Mayor of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on jointly implementing a healthcare project — the Hainan International Physician Training Center — in the city.
Mr. A Dong explained that Sanya, gifted with the natural advantages of tropical, mild, and wet weather, has a rapidly growing healthcare service industry. Mr. A Dong believes that the joint healthcare project will further accelerate the development of Hainan as an international free trade zone and the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
He added that the government has rolled out preferential policies intended to retain talented individuals in medicine. Those individuals will benefit from special policies related to medical and social security services and education for their children.
During the meeting, representatives from the Mayo Clinic delegation expressed that they are willing to work closely with Sanya in the areas of hospital management, human resources, medical technology, medical services, personnel training, scientific research, and teaching in an effort to improve the health of people globally.
