Haikou to build a modern tram line in 2012

During the 12th five-year plan, Haikou will strive to build a modern tram line as well as an LRT (Light Rail Transit) line in an effort to form a 40-minute transport circle within urban areas, reports 0898.net.
The construction of the first modern tram line will be built starting from the train station to Xinhu Bridge with a total spanning length of 24 km. The tram line will link up with the major coastal areas across the city serving as a function of tourist sightseeing. Officials said that the tram line will start construction in June, 2012.
Besides, the remaining part of the Haikou section along the East Ring Railway will be renovated to move way for the LRT (Light Rail Transit) lines to provide convenient transport services to downtown Haikou and remote areas..
