Hainan sees 14.41 million tourists in first half of 2011
Hainan saw overnight tourist arrivals increase 8.94% year on year to 3.95 million in the first half of this year, according to figures released by the Hainan Tourism Development Commission.
In the period from January to June, the island received 10,435,500 domestic tourists, up 12.06% over the same period last year. The total number of international tourists reached 383,800, representing a year-on-year growth of 12.06%.
Analyzed by continents, the number of overnight tourists from Asia regions climbed 3.16% year on year to 85,000 in the first six months of this year. Visitors from Europe and America rose by 34.59% and 27.26% to 133,500 and 20,000 respectively.
