Sydney’s travel scene was invited to delve into the world of Hainan last night at the 2011 Hainan Tourism Convention held in the Marriott Sydney.

Guests were updated on the island’s industry leaders plans utilise its beaches, culture and high-end resorts to develop ‘China’s last unknown’ into an 'International Tourism Destination’.

Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission deputy director-general Hu Yue Ming told guests that not only does the island have unique resources to build an “outstanding” experience for travellers but also has one of the largest duty free shopping outlets.

Mr Ming also took the opportunity to introduce its recently formed relationship with Surf Life Saving Australia, to provide tourists with safer beach experiences.

Securing the new friendship musical-style, Mr Ming invited Surf Life Saving Australia manager Anthony Bradstreeti to perform a traditional song.
