Hainan has largest area of selenium-rich soil in China
Research achievements from the 7-year eco-geochemical investigation on Hainan Island have shown that Hainan has the largest area of selenium-rich soil in China, reports 0898.net.
Covering an area of 9,545 sq m, the distribution of selenium-rich soil reaches above 28% of total island area.
The provincial bureau of geology pointed out that it is of great importance to develop of land resources and improve the quality of agricultural products as Hainan enriches the largest as well as cleanest selenium-rich soil in China.
Experts said selenium, as a necessary trace element to human body, can not only maintain human body function but also keep health and longevity.
Meanwhile, the investigation has also achieved many significant results, which confirmed that Hainan Island is a true ecological island.
