Hainan had an overnight tourist volume of 2.245 million in May of 2011, up 15.49% over the same period last year, says a report released by the Hainan Tourism Development Commission on June 21, reports 0898.net.
 
As of the end of May, figures from authorities showed that the total number of overnight tourists from home and abroad reached 12,399,000, up 8.01% year on year.
 
In May, the island received 57,700 overseas tourists, up 1.94% year on year. The number of tourists from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan reached 17,000. As the end of May, the island received 331,500 international overnight tourists, up 12.49% year on year.
