According to Hainan Tourism Development Commission, Hainan received 224,500 tourists in May, up 15.49% compare with same period of last year. In the first four months of this year, Hainan received 12.39 million tourists, increased 8.01% year on year, reports xinhuanet.com.

In breakdown, overseas tourists made up 57,700 of total tourist arrivals, a rise of 1.94% from the same period of last year. By the end of May, overseas tourists numbered 331,500, up 12.49% from a year earlier.

In May, Hainan tourism revenue reached 207.2 million yuan, up 18.26% over the same period of previous year. In the first four months of this year, Hainan tourism revenue increased 9.73% to 13.49 billion yuan. Among them, tourism revenue from domestic tourists was 187.3 million yuan, increased 20.37%.

Since April 20, the implementation of Hainan Duty Free policy for domestic tourists has been an important diving force to boost whole tourism industry in Hainan.
