Dubbed as the natural herbs’, Hainan Island has 4,680 kinds of plants, among which more than 3,100 are medicinal plants. This means over 66% of the plants can be used for medicine remedies, accounting for 1 / 3 of the existing medicinal plants in China.
 
There are many types of medicinal herbs that can be found in Hainan, including Betelnut, Puzzle, Amomum, Morinda, Incense, Patchouli, Clove, Nutmeg, Panda Hai, Dalbergia, Periwinkle, Morinda citrifolia and Basil.
 
Among them, Betelnut, Puzzle, Amomum and Morinda are known as the four major Hainan medicinal herbs.
 
Recently, as medicinal herbs are becoming increasingly popular and important in the western world, the 64,500-hectare project of the Hainan medicinal herbs garden is aiming to build itself into the worlds largest medicinal herbs production base by boosting the optimization of production technology and expanding the varieties of medicinal herbs.
