Haikou receives 1.13 million visitors for forest tourism in Jan-July, 2011
Forest tourism in Haikou is striving as nearly 1.13 million people visited Haikou’s publicly owned forests and parks as of this July, reports xinhuanet.com.
In the first 7 months of this year, Haikou received a total of 4.55 million overstay tourists, with tourism revenue reaching 4.46 billion yuan. Of this, the expenditure in forest tourism hit 1.15 billion yuan.
Currently, there are more than 10 publicly owned forests and parks in Haikou. The quality of life in the forest is the primary reason for visits and people come to enjoy the clean air, recreation and tranquility.
In Haikou’s Shishan Volcanic Cluster National Park, forest tourism created over 300 jobs in the forest and generated nearly 8 million yuan in tourism expenditures during the first eight months of this year.
