Here is a list of tourism-related events and festivals to be held in and around Sanya in January 2019.
4th Asia Rainbow TV Awards

Venue: Yalong Bay Conference Center亚龙湾会议中心
The 4th Asia Rainbow TV Awards will be held from January 10th to January 12th, 2019, at the Yalong Bay Conference Center in Sanya. TV professionals, actors, actresses, filmmakers, and directors from Asia will gather in Sanya for the event.
According to the organizing committee, the number of participating countries and regions will reach 32 and the number of programs to be submitted will exceed 500.
The Asia Rainbow TV Awards are divided into four categories, namely, TV Drama, Entertainment, Documentary, and Animation.
26th Association of Asian Contemporary Sculptors Exhibition in Sanya

The 26th Association of Asian Contemporary Sculptors Exhibition is being held in Sanya’s Haitang Bay.
A selection of 60 to 70 pieces of art from 40 sculpture artists from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and mainland China are on display at the Just Space Art Gallery of the Sanya Edition Hotel. The pieces together present a cohesive regional narrative about Asian modern sculpture art.
2019 Sanya Phoenix International Lumiere Culture Festival

Venue: Sanya’s Phoenix Seafood Square 三亚凤凰海鲜广场
The 2019 Sanya Phoenix International Lumiere Culture Festival will publicly debut on January 1st, 2019, at Sanya’s Phoenix Seafood Square.
The Lumiere Culture Festival will be held over a land area of 30,000 square meters, and will consist of four parts, including a water-themed laser light show depicting Hainan’s development as a rising international tourism island, a traditional lantern show, a “magic light show,” and a Spring Festival temple fair.
More than 40 sets of light projects will be installed for the shows, which will integrate multiple artistic styles, including the Chinese classical style and contemporary popular artistic styles.
Visitors to the temple fair will enjoy a variety of cultural performances, traditional arts and crafts, games, and local snacks.
2nd Sanya Wax Apple Picking Festival

It’s harvest season for wax apples in Sanya. The 2nd Sanya Wax Apple Picking Festival began on December 8th, 2018, at Nanlu Farm of Changshan Village in Yazhou District.
Sanya is known as a “natural greenhouse”, which makes the area suitable for wax apple plantation. The Wax Apple Village has been through more than a decade of research and development to shape its own registered brand of characteristic, high-quality wax apples.
The 2nd Sanya Wax Apple Picking Festival aims to revive rural culture and build a brand image for Sanya wax apples. The festival focuses on alleviating poverty and further developing Sanya’s beautiful villages. It will also promote Sanya wax apples, which are products that have been recognized by National Geographic.
5th Lingshui (Guangpo) Cherry Tomato Picking Season

5th Lingshui (Guangpo) Cherry Tomato Picking Season will be held from January 18th to late April, 2019.
During the festival, visitors can tour the local orchards in Guangpo Town and enjoy cherry tomato picking. Local farmers will show visitors the best way to select and pick; cherry tomatoes are tastiest when they are medium sized and their surfaces are perfectly smooth.
Guangpo Township in Lungshui County is the only large-scale cherry tomato plantation on the tropical island. January to April in Lingshui are the harvest season for cherry tomatoes. Shoppers can easily find fresh cherry tomatoes for sale at markets in Hainan.
In 2018, the Guangpo Township has over 70,000 hectares of cherry tomato plantation land. The region’s annual cherry tomatoes are sold to Hong Kong, Macau, as well as other 16 domestic cities in China and exported to overseas markets.
