Foreign tourists to Hainan increase 13.7% in 1st quarter of 2011
The Hainan Tourism Department recently announced that the foreign tourist arrivals in the first quarter of this year reached 189,500 person times, a 13.7% increase compared to 2010, reports 0898.net.
Among the foreign tourist arrivals, 44,390 were from Asian countries, 65,515 were from European countries and 52,338 came from Russia.
Due to the nuclear radiation followed by the earthquake in Japan, tourist arrivals from Japan declined 37.71% in March.
Tourist arrivals in Sanya increased 19.7% to 119,934 person times in the first quarter of 2011. Tourist arrivals in Haikou rose by 27.3% while that in Wanning increased by 52.3%.
